Guatemalan Hot Dog Spot Los Shucos Reopens Post-Fire

After a fire hit 22nd Street and Mission Street last year, several businesses were forced to close, including the newly-opened Los Shucos. Owner Sofia Keck braved the year by turning the Guatemalan hot dog business toward catering, all while working with the city to reopen her store in the same location, which was drenched by water in the firefight. Keep reading at SF.eater

“It took me 14 months to open the very first time because of permits and change of use and building out the space. I was open for ten months before the fire, and we were closed for a year after the fire. So we technically haven’t really had the storefront for even a year total,” Keck told Eater. “Opening at the beginning is really hard, and then having to reopen in less than a year again, I think it’s really hard. But honestly, I consider myself an expert of opening now.”

Keck credits much of her reopening to the city’s help, and mayor Ed Lee even gave Los Shucos a certificate of honor for representing small businesses. Now that the shop is open again, Keck will be slinging hot dogs Thursday through Sunday (focusing on catering the rest of the week) from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursdays and Sundays and 11 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays

Private Parties

On Monday through Wednesday, a group can book a Shuco Party at the restaurant.
Your group can enjoy the amazing-ness of Shucos with the restaurant all to yourselves. It's a great way to start off a night out, celebrate a birthday or treat the gang for something truly special.
